The Great Wall Of China
It was built 220 B.C under Qin Shi Huang. The workers jointed the sections together, that formed a united defence system. The Great Wall runs across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 8,851.8 kilometers (5,500 miles) from east to west of China.
Hundreds of thousands of men slaved to build it. It was dangerous work and more than a million men are said to have died during the building. The workers used stones and packed earth to construct the wall. In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the Great Wall had to be guard by millions of men. It is said that the names of the people that died building this famous landmark, is on the bricks keeping the wall up. To say that they will always be guarding the wall.
